Customs Brokerage for Atlantic Canada

Three provinces, one logistics reality: everything funnels through Moncton, and Newfoundland adds a sailing. We clear at Halifax or Montreal, consolidate where it makes sense, and manage the ferry legs that other forwarders forget to book.

Moncton Is the Hub
Every Atlantic LTL network crosses at Moncton. We consolidate there for multi-stop deliveries across New Brunswick and PEI — one cleared entry, one linehaul, several doors.
Newfoundland Needs a Sailing
Cargo for St. John's moves by scheduled vessel from Montreal or by ferry from North Sydney — both with cutoffs that don't wait. We book the marine leg with the inland leg, so the island doesn't become an afterthought.
Two Entries, Priced Both Ways
Atlantic cargo can land at Halifax (closest water) or Montreal (most sailings). European goods usually favour Halifax; Asian goods often ride to Montreal first. We quote both and show the math.

Indicative ranges only, not live schedules. Actual transit varies with carrier, season and routing, and a CBSA examination or hold can extend it well beyond the range shown. Request a quote for current sailings. Door-to-door totals include port and rail-ramp dwell plus handoff time, so the individual legs may not add up to the total.

What We Watch in the Maritimes

  • The island deadline is real. Newfoundland sailings have hard cutoffs, and a missed vessel can mean a week. We treat the marine booking as part of the routing from day one — not something dispatch discovers after clearance.
  • Consolidation pays in small markets. Atlantic volumes are thinner, so combining consignees on one linehaul through Moncton cuts per-door costs meaningfully. Standing weekly consolidations beat ad-hoc shipments here.
  • Seafood works both directions. The region's reefer exports keep cold-chain equipment moving through the Maritimes. If you import temperature-controlled goods, that two-way flow is your friend on availability and rate.
  • Weather windows are operational facts. Atlantic storms close crossings and delay sailings. Buffers belong in the plan, and customers get told before the delay, not after.
